VolunteerTalgud

Many hands make light work! Seedrioru needs the help and support of the volunteers. Join in for the work or "talgud" days to bring Seedrioru back to life after winter hibernation, reconnect with old friends and enjoy some social time.

We have multiple work days through out the spring and fall to help get the facilities ready for summer camp. We typically provide a full, hearty lunch for the volunteers, and an evening Sauna is usually held to get clean at the end of the day.  Find  our  2017 planned worked days from the post below.  You can also get details on the Seedrioru Facebook Page as well.

Thank you

Seedrioru couldn't function without the help and support of all the volunteers. We appreciate any help that anyone in the community can provide. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank everyone who has helped out at Seedrioru!

A Fresh Perspective

A Fresh Perspective
The University of Guelph has offered design assistance to Seedrioru through their Landscape Architecture Outreach Centre this winter. Their goal is to stimulate creative and innovative approaches to solving design problems. Recently... there has been an increased energy to bring Seedrioru into the future through this thoughtful and engaging process presenting a great opportunity. Preparations for the upcoming Seedrioru 60th Anniversary on June 27th are in full swing and the insights will be very timely! Dean Bernasch is a fourth year Landscape Architecture student who has started a challenging 13 week project to finish off his education. We are more than happy to provide him with our design issues, visioning ideas, pictures, cultural history, topographical maps and a field tour so that he has a comprehensive package to develop his insights. We look forward to his results in April. Join us at Suvihari 60 to learn more and future directions for Seedrioru! Here are some photos from our field tour. Tark Donation

Gracious Thanks!

On Saturday March 22, 2015 Seedrioru received a very special gift – a million dollar bequest from Henry Tark. Henry and his wife Linda, whom some may remember... taught crafts at Seedrioru during camp in the 60’s and 70’s, resided in Burlington, Ontario. Linda was also a well-known weaver and made Estonian folk costumes. While they had no family of their own, children always held a special place in their hearts.   [caption id="attachment_1777" align="aligncenter" width="800"]On the photo from the left are Tormi Kimsto, Thomas Koger, Seedrioru President Jaanus Kimsto receiving the $1,000,000 cheque from the estate executor Merike Koger, and Kathie and Harry Must. Talgud This Weekend – May 24th

Talgud This Weekend – May 24th
Seedrioru Talgud next weekend, May 24th, the real 2-4 weekend. Since it is the first talgud of the year there will be a lot of clean up from this harsh... winter. So bring your chain saws, rakes, whipper snippers, etc.... The water was not on as of Saturday, Jaanus and Pete were working on it, so bring water. The barracks, need to be opened up as well our major physical project will be to raise the docks by one foot, this way we can raise the water level. Fishermen/fisherwomen with hip wadders or rubber boots would be an asset for this project. My feeling the water will still be a tad cool. Come for talgud on this weekend. Camp out. Watch the meteor shower. read more
